Pedestrian Injured in Train Accident near 8th Street and Stratford Court [DEL MAR, CA]

Pedestrian Hospitalized Following Train Accident in Del Mar

 
DEL MAR, CA (July 21, 2020) — A pedestrian was injured in a train accident near 8th Street and Stratford Court in Del Mar Saturday afternoon.
 
An Amtrak train hit the pedestrian at about 2:50 p.m. according to the San Diego County sheriff’s deputies. Based on their investigation, the pedestrian had his headphones on and was running down the middle of the tracks.
 
The Amtrak train, which was a mile behind him, began sounding its horn. This in order to alert the pedestrian that it was getting closer. However, the pedestrian was unable to get out of the trains’ way in time and was hit.
 
The deputies said the pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the collision. First responders transported him to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation.
