David Gutierrez Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on 5 Freeway [SUN VALLEY, CA]

1 Rider Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Sun Valley Hit-and-Run Crash on 5 Freeway

 
SUN VALLEY, CA (July 19, 2020) – Authorities identified the rider who died in a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening in Sun Valley.
 
The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. on southbound 5 Freeway near Lankershim Boulevard.
 
According to the CHP, a motorcycle with two occupants was heading southbound on the freeway when it was hit by a BMW.
 
The impact ejected both riders. Another vehicle, possibly a red big rig, then struck one of the ejected riders and took off.
 
Responding paramedics provided aid, but the rider that was struck by the hit-and-run vehicle died at the scene. They transported the other rider to a hospital with serious injuries.
 
Coroner’s officials identified the deceased victim as David Gutierrez, 24, of Moorpark.
 
Police are still on the lookout for the suspect. They asked anyone with further information to contact the CHP Altadena Area office at 626-296-8100.
