Monserrat Valencia Arrested, 3-Year-Old Hurt in Prescott Valley Hit-and-Run Crash

 
PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (July 21, 2020) — Officials arrested 30-year-old Monserrat Guadalupe Valencia after a hit-and-run crash on Friday, July 17.
 
The collision occurred at about 2:00 p.m. in the area of Navajo Drive and Florentine Road.
 
According to witnesses, they saw a yellow Dodge Charger or Challenger moving south on Navajo Drive at around 60 mph. Then it ran a red light at Florentine Road and slammed with white Honda Civic driving westbound.
 
A 3-year-old child in the Honda sustained a foot injury due to the accident. Medics rushed her to Yavapai Regional Medical Center-East. She is expected to recover.
 
The Dodge fled from the scene and went south on Navajo Drive. It turned on Highway 69. A patrol officer found a similar-looking vehicle behind the Blue Hills gas station near Kachina Drive.
 
The officer lost sight of the vehicle when it moved south on Kachina Drive at high speed. Later, Yavapai County Sheriff deputies found the car unoccupied around Henderson Road.
 
By Saturday, officials found the driver, Monserrat Guadalupe Valencia, at a house in the area of Robert Road and Lakeshore Drive. After police interviewed Valencia, they booked him into Prescott County Jail for five felonies and a misdemeanor.
