Lance Gray Killed after Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 64
CHAMA, NM (July 21, 2020) – A Peñasco man identified as 59-year-old Lance Gray died in a crash on Highway 64 west of Chama on Sunday, July 12.
The incident happened at about 9:40 p.m. when a 1993 Jeep moving west on Highway 64 struck an elk. Then it rolled and slammed into the driver’s side of Gray’s 1972 Chevrolet truck.
The Jeep’s driver, a 21-year-old woman from Jemez Springs, was not hurt in the crash, according to the news release.
State police did not release the woman’s name because she has not been charged with a crime.
The release said that alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. Seatbelts appear to have not been properly used.
