Two Fatally Injured after Rollover Crash on China Gulch Road and Canyon Road
ANDERSON, CA (July 20, 2020) — Two people died after a rollover accident on China Gulch Road west of Canyon Road around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, July 16.
Reports said that a Ford F-550 dump truck moved east on China Gulch Road, southwest of Redding. While entering a sharp ring-hand curve, the driver lost control of the car. After that, it crossed into the opposing lane and rolled over into the embankment on the north side of the roadway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts. The impact ejected them both.
The car came to rest on its roof at about 50 feet down a steep bank.
Officers found both the driver and the passenger trapped under the vehicle. They succumbed to their fatal injuries, CHP said.
The dump truck also lost its large load of metal fence T posts during the incident.
Both the driver and the passenger were male. Shasta County Coroner’s Office will release their identities after their next of kin are notified.
