Rick Alarcon Arrested after DUI Collision on 26th Street and S Street

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 20, 2020) — Police arrested a man identified as 59-year-old Rick Charles Alarcon of Hickman after a DUI crash Thursday, July 16.
 
According to Sacramento police, Alarcon struck two bicyclists at two midtown intersections three blocks apart that left them seriously injured.
 
Officer Karl Chan said the initial traffic crash involved the crash and a bicyclist. They received a call about 6:20 p.m. in the area of 26th Street and P Street.
 
Just after the first reported incident, officers received reports of a vehicle and bicyclist collision at 26th and S streets.
 
Officers detained the driver in the second collision. They determined the same vehicle, a silver Toyota FJ sport-utility vehicle, was involved in both incidents, said Chan.
 
Paramedics rushed both bicyclists by ambulances to a hospital. Chan said both bicyclists had major injuries and they were expected to survive.
 
Based on the investigation so far, it appeared that both crashes were intentional, Chan said.
 
Police arrested the driver, Alarcon, and they held him without bail in Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of driving under the influence.
