SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (July 16, 2020) – A man was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash late Thursday evening in South Los Angeles.
 
The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and San Pedro Street.
 
According to police, a light-colored Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a male pedestrian.
 
Arriving units rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he later died. The victim’s name was not immediately available.
 
The Dodge driver fled the scene after the crash. Police said the car might have damage to the undercarriage.
 
The exact circumstances of the crash were not disclosed. It is unclear if investigators have obtained any surveillance video of the crash.
 
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
