Jeff Kloiber Killed in DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Base Line Street [SAN BERNARDINO, CA]

Henry Duffy Arrested in Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Base Line Street near 215 Freeway

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 16, 2020) – A man was killed following a DUI hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning in San Bernardino.
 
The crash happened around 12:53 a.m. on Base Line Street near 215 Freeway.
 
According to the police, a Chevrolet Malibu was heading east on Base Line Street when it failed to stop for a red light. It then crashed into a Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Silverado that were attempting to turn left onto the freeway.
 
As a result, the driver of the Civic suffered fatal injuries and died at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He was identified as Jeff Wayne Kloiber, 52, of San Bernardino.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver and passenger in the Silverado to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
The Malibu driver, 28-year-old Henry Alfred Duffy of Adelanto, fled the scene after the crash. He later turned himself in at the San Bernardino police station.
 
Police arrested Duffy on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run causing injury or death.
 
Authorities believe speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
