Truck Accident on 10 Freeway near University Drive in Tempe
TEMPE, AZ (July 16, 2020) – Two drivers sustained injuries in a truck accident on 10 Freeway, Thursday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident happened shortly after 9:30 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a dump truck crossed over the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway to the westbound lanes. Then, the truck hit a passenger car near University Drive.
The impact of the crash trapped the driver in the passenger car and caused the truck to overturn. Emergency personnel then transported both drivers to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Officials shut down affected areas until 4:00 PM.
DPS continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
