Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 17, 2020) — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on 37th Street and Cherry Avenue at about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 15.
 
The initial investigation revealed that the driver of a white Honda Accord was in the number two lane of northbound Cherry Avenue. Then he looked down and drifted right, according to the police statement.
 
The car crashed with a pedestrian who walked in the street northbound on Cherry Avenue near the east curb of Cherry Avenue, police said. After hitting the pedestrian, the car continued onto the sidewalk, crashed with other objects. Then it came to a stop on the east sidewalk.
 
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the pedestrian died at the scene. His identity was not yet released, pending notification of his relatives.
 
According to police, medics rushed the male driver of the Honda to a hospital for observation. His name was not available.
