Jonathan Branaugh Airlifted after Head-On Collision on O’Byrnes Ferry Road
JAMESTOWN, CA (July 16, 2020) – Two people sustained injuries following a head-on crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road, Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:45 AM. A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 35-year-old Jonathan Branaugh of Tracy, sped up to 65 mph to pass a big rig. However, Branaugh failed to notice a Ford F-550 pickup as he crossed into the oncoming lane.
Then, the two pickup trucks collided near the Sierra Conservation Center. The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet to overturn.
An air ambulance transported Branaugh to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Meanwhile, the Ford driver, identified as 33-year-old Joshua Fernandes of Angels Camp, was transported to Adventist Health Sonora with unspecified injuries.
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
