Nicholas Ainza and Fidel Ortiz-Pausano Hospitalized after DUI Crash in Orcutt

 
ORCUTT, CA (July 14, 2020) – Two drivers sustained injuries following a head-on crash south of Orcutt, Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:45 PM. For reasons still under investigation, a 2010 Chevy Aveo, driven by 26-year-old Fidel Ortiz-Pausano of Santa Maria, was northbound in the southbound lane of Highway 135.
 
As the vehicle entered Highway 1, it collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota Highlander driven by 33-year-old Nicholas A. Ainza.
 
Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department transported both drivers to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria with minor injuries.
 
Officers later arrested Ortiz-Pausano on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. He was then booked into Santa Barbara County Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
 
CHP continues to investigate the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
