Cooper Lamb Struck and Injured Cyclist in San Tan Valley
SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (July 14, 2020) — A bicyclist suffered severe injuries after a suspected impaired driver struck them on Gary Road Wednesday evening.
The incident took place near Judd Road at about 6:45 pm on July 8, officials said.
Updates on the circumstances leading up to the crash remain unavailable as of this time. However, the authorities have identified the driver of the car as Cooper Lamb, the son of Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
The detectives processed Cooper, 20, for potential impairment. There was a warrant issued, authorizing to draw and acquire blood samples from him.
The cyclist, whose name was not released, suffered severe injuries and is still in the hospital.
Meantime, Sheriff Lamb asked that the investigation be transferred out of his agency to avoid conflict of interest. The accident is now under investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit.
