59-Year-Old Man Killed Motorcycle Crash on 405 Freeway near Highway 167 [RENTON, WA]

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on 405 Freeway in Renton

 
RENTON, WA (July 14, 2020) – A 59-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in Renton, troopers said.
 
The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. along the northbound lanes of 405 Freeway, just north of Highway 167.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the man was riding his motorcycle south at a high rate of speed. He then changed lanes to pass other vehicles when he lost control and smashed into the jersey barrier.
 
The impact ejected the rider onto the freeway. The motorcycle then veered back across the freeway and went onto Highway 167 before eventually crashing 300 feet off the shoulder.
 
Medics arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
