Tahara Day Killed in Fiery Semi Truck Crash on 68th Avenue [OAKLAND, CA]

1 Killed, 3 Injured in Fiery Crash with Semi Truck at 68th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard

 
OAKLAND, CA (July 13, 2020) – A woman who died in a fiery crash with a semi truck late Monday evening in Oakland has been identified.
 
The crash happened around 11:28 p.m. at the intersection of 68th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
 
Police traffic investigators said an International semi truck was traveling southbound on 68th Avenue when a Mercedes traveling west on Foothill Boulevard collided into it. The impact caused the semi truck to crash into a building.
 
The truck and the building then caught fire, police said.
 
Responding firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and provide medical treatment to those injured.
 
Sadly, the female passenger in the Mercedes died at the scene. Authorities identified her as 31-year-old Tahara Day, a San Leandro resident.
 
The driver of the Mercedes, a 33-year-old Hayward man, was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
 
Another female passenger in the Mercedes, a 14-year-old girl, was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
 
The driver of the truck, a 37-year-old Visalia man, suffered severe burns and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
 
Police are still investigating this fatal incident.
