51-Year-Old Rafael Torres Dies after Two-Vehicle Crash in Palm Desert

 
PALM DESERT, CA (July 11, 2020) – Authorities identified 51-year-old Rafael Torres of Coachella as the driver killed in a Palm Desert crash, Saturday evening.
 
According to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station, the incident happened at about 9:00 PM. A 1990 Jeep was eastbound on Gerald Ford Drive when, for reasons still under investigation, it collided with a 2019 Honda traveling northbound on Portola Avenue.
 
The impact of the crash ejected Torres from his Jeep. Torres sustained major traumatic injuries and was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the second vehicle, a 32-year-old Palm Desert woman, and her passenger, a 30-year-old Southgate man, suffered serious injuries. They were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover soon.
