Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Fruitridge Road in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 13, 2020) – A woman was killed following a pedestrian crash early Monday morning in Sacramento’s Fruitridge neighborhood, CHP officials said.
The crash happened just after 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a female pedestrian was jaywalking in the dark when she was struck by a car.
Paramedics arrived and tried saving the woman, but she died at the scene. The victim’s name has not yet been release pending positive identification and family notification.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
Crews closed the intersection for about an hour while they cleared the site. It has since been cleared.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
CHP officials are still investigating the circumstances leading up to this fatal incident to determine the liability.
