Woman Killed in Broadside Crash at Pond Road and Melcher Road [MCFARLAND, CA]

Broadside Crash at Pond and Melcher Roads Kills 1 Driver

 
MCFARLAND, CA (July 11, 2020) – A woman was killed following a broadside crash late Saturday evening in a remote area of McFarland.
 
The crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Pond Road and Melcher Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old woman was driving her car northbound on Melcher Road when she failed to stop at the stop sign. She then broadsided another vehicle traveling westbound on Pond Road.
 
The impact caused the second vehicle to hit a power pole, pinning the female driver inside. Responding emergency crews pronounced that woman dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the first car was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
CHP officials said drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
