26-Year-old Kerman Woman Dies after Car Crashes into Canal

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (July 10, 2020) – A woman who died in a car accident last Friday evening in Fresno County has been identified by authorities.
 
The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on Shaw Avenue near Goldenroad Avenue.
 
CHP officials said Rachelle Lopez-Coronado, 26, of Kerman was driving a 2013 Toyota eastbound on Shaw Avenue at a high rate of speed when she veered onto the north shoulder of the roadway.
 
The car then collided into an embankment and went airborne, landing in the middle of the canal. The car went on its roof and completely submerged into the water.
 
Deputies found Lopez-Coronado inside the car and pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
A member of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team also assisted in the response.
 
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. CHP officials are still investigating the incident.
