Authorities Identifies Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Desert Hot Springs

 
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 9, 2020) – A bicyclist who died in a hit-and-run crash last Wednesday has been identified as Christopher Jones, 43, of Palm Springs.
 
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on Two Bunch Palms Trail near Cholla Drive.
 
According to the police, Jones was riding in his bicycle in an unknown direction in the middle of the roadway when a vehicle struck him. Deputies found him and his destroyed bicycle along the eastbound lanes of Two Bunch Palms Trail.
 
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The suspect vehicle, a maroon 2006-2009 Lexus IS250 sedan, fled the scene and was last seen westbound on Two Bunch Palms Trail heading towards Little Morongo Road.
 
Police closed Two Bunch Palms between Cholla and Little Morongo Road, forcing morning commuters to detour around the scene.
 
Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact Officer James at (760) 329-6411 extension 351.
