Charlton Caldwell Fatally Hurt after Three-Car Accident on 106th Street

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 13, 2020) – A 45-year-old motorist later identified as Charlton Caldwell, of Compton, died in a three-car crash on Saturday, July 11.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Caldwell drove a 2007 black Saab 20T at 9:35 p.m. Saturday. Officers said the accident happened when a white 2007 BMW 328i moving eastbound on 106th Street failed to yield for a stop sign at Vermont Avenue.
 
That driver then moved directly into the path of another white 2007 BMW traveling southbound on Vermont.
 
CHP said the front-end of the white BMW 328i traveling southbound on Vermont Avenue in the No. 2 lane slammed with the left rear of the white BMW 328i moving eastbound on 106th Street.
 
Caldwell, moving southbound in the No. 1 lane on Vermont Avenue, turned his vehicle to the left to prevent the crash between his car and the two BMWs. Then it crashed into the concrete center median. His vehicle then left the roadway and hit a tree. He died at the scene.
 
Medics rushed another motorist, a 39-year-old man from Los Angeles to Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood with minor injuries.
