Woman Killed in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash at Black Mountain Road and Capricorn Way [MIRA MESA, CA]

Morning Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash at Black Mountain Road and Capricorn Way Ends in Fatality

 
MIRA MESA, CA (July 10, 2020) – A woman in her 40s died in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash Friday morning in the Mira Mesa neighborhood, police said.
 
The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Black Mountain Road and Capricorn Way.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was crossing Capricorn Way in a crosswalk when a black 2004 Nissan Titan struck her. The pickup truck was making a right turn onto the street from Black Mountain Road.
 
Arriving units pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Her identity was not immediately available.
 
The involved motorist was gone by the time police and paramedics arrived.
 
Later in the day, traffic accident investigators located the hit-and-run suspect, a 31-year-old man, but they did not immediately arrest him.
 
It was unclear if he will face criminal charges in the case. Further investigation is underway.
