15-Year-Old Boy Dies in Crash after Police Pursuit on West 15th Street
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 3, 2020) – A 15-year-old boy who died in a high-speed crash last Friday in San Bernardino has been identified as Mario Levario.
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on West 15th Street.
San Bernardino Police were pursuing a Dodge Charger following an armed robbery at Del Taco on 2nd Street. Mario was a passenger in the vehicle.
The driver fled at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, collided with the north guardrail, and launched into the air. The vehicle then landed in the East Lytle Creek Basin below the roadway.
Mario, along with the driver, 20-year-old Michael Levario, died at the scene.
A 13-year-old boy in the car was critically injured.
Police said it is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which remained under investigation. They asked anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Dan Acosta or Sergeant Jeff Harvey at 909-384-5792.
