Head-On Crash on Highway 99 at Sankey Road Kills Two Drivers
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (July 5, 2020) – The two drivers who died in a head-on crash early Sunday morning last week in Sutter County has been identified.
The crash happened around 1:10 a.m. on Highway 99 at Sankey Road.
Authorities said a white 2007 BMW was traveling the wrong way on Highway 99 when it collided head-on with a silver 2014 Toyota that was heading north.
Paramedics immediately responded and pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office identified the victims as 27-year-old Gabriela Michelle Sanchez of Chico and 43-year-old Arthur Anacleto Medina of Sacramento.
Sanchez was the one driving the wrong way, while Medina was the driver of the Toyota.
CHP initially indicated that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
