Travis James Fatally Struck by Car on 2nd Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]

Travis James Dead in Pedestrian Crash on Second Avenue and Indian School Road

 
PHOENIX, AZ (July 10, 2020) — A 38-year-old man identified as Travis Lee James died after a pedestrian accident early Thursday, July 9.
 
The Phoenix Police Department the collision took place near 2nd Avenue and Indian School Road around 3:30 a.m.
 
According to Police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson, James was in the roadway near Indian School Road when a car struck him. He was not in a crosswalk.
 
James died on scene. It was not immediately determined whether James was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
 
He was hit by a 65-year-old man driving a 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van on Indian School Road. That man was not not hurt.
 
The driver on the van did not notice James in the roadway and was not able to prevent the incident, police stated.
 
Officials evaluated the driver. They determined he was not under the influence at the time of the crash.
 
This investigation about the incident is ongoing.
