Sarah Blomquist Still Unconscious after Collision with DUI Driver in Marysville
MARYSVILLE, WA (June 30, 2020) – 22-year-old Sarah Blomquist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a DUI driver on 64th Avenue, Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Marysville Police Department, the incident happened at about 1:00 PM. The driver of a white Toyota Corolla, identified as Blomquist, was waiting to turn left at a stoplight onto Highway 9 to return to work. Then, a Porsche Cayenne slammed into the rear of the Toyota at a high speed.
The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to hit two more vehicles before spinning and hitting another car.
Medics rushed Blomquist to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. As per reports, she suffered a broken neck and severe head injuries. In the first 28 hours, she underwent three surgeries. However, Blomquist remains unconscious, weeks before her wedding on July 25.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with Blomquist’s medical bills.
Responders also transported two other victims to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Authorities later arrested the Porsche driver, identified as a 49-year-old Arlington man, for investigation of vehicular assault and driving under the influence of heroin.
Marysville police will release additional information once it becomes available.
