Zachary Jaramillo Arrested, Driver Killed in Albuquerque DUI Crash

 
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 9, 2020) – A 24-year-old man identified as Zachary Jaramillo is behind bars after a fatal head-on crash on Wednesday, July 1.
 
Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to a collision at San Pedro Drive and Paseo del Norte Boulevard.
 
According to police, a small black SUV moved westbound on Paseo and was hit from behind by a black, four-door vehicle. Then the SUV lost control, left the roadway, and slammed into multiple objects in a median.
 
APD said the driver of the SUV succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. The name of the victim was not yet available.
 
Authorities said the driver of the four-door vehicle, Zachary Jaramillo, was under the influence. They noticed Jaramillo smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech.
 
Officials charged him with vehicular homicide. Prosecutors said Jaramillo should be locked up until trial.
