Two-Vehicle Crash in Orangecrest Neighborhood Kills 1 Driver and Injures Another
ORANGECREST, CA (July, 2020) – A man who died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning has been identified as Russell Santos, 56, of Riverside.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Barton Street and Krameria Avenue in the Orangecrest neighborhood.
According to police, Santos was driving a 1998 Ford bus south on Barton Street. At the same time, a 2000 Toyota Tundra approached from the opposite direction. The Toyota then made a left turn onto Krameria and ended up in front of the Ford.
The two vehicles collided and the Ford flipped onto its side.
Both Santos and the Toyota driver, a 20-year-old man, were ejected onto the roadway.
First responders found Santos trapped underneath the Ford with major head trauma. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Toyota driver suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics took him to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment. He’s expected to fully recover.
Authorities did not rule out alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
We will continue to update this post as new details are released.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of Russell Santos.
