Julia Villalobos Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on 5 Freeway [Kent, WA]

Julia Villalobos Dead after Kent Semi-Truck Accident

 
KENT, WA (July 9, 2020) – A 51-year-old woman identified as Julia Villalobos died following a semi-truck crash on 5 Freeway near Kent on Wednesday, July 8.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, Villalobos moved traffic barrels in a construction zone. Then she hid between orange construction cones near Highway 516. As the semi-truck approached the area, the woman laid in the roadway and was hit by the truck.
 
Troopers responded and pronounced Villalobos dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the semi stopped on the right shoulder just south of the crash site.
 
Medics, firefighters and the State Patrol also rushed to the area, according to the state Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
 
Officials closed all except the HOV lane of southbound 5 Freeway as firefighters cleared the wreckage from the crash just north of Highway 516.
 
A tweet from Trooper Rick Johnson said they closed four lanes closed before 5 a.m. Wednesday.
 
By 6:45 a.m., traffic was backed up 5 miles, according to WSDOT.
 
All blocked lanes reopened around 8:15 a.m.
