VAN NUYS, CA (July 8, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a big rig on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys on Tuesday, July 7.
 
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig, the crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. on the southbound 405 near Victory Boulevard.
 
Kravig said there was no immediate word on why the male pedestrian was on the freeway.
 
The identity of the male victim was not immediately available pending notification of loved ones.
 
There were no reports if impairment contributed to the crash. Officials closed the three southbound lanes at Sherman Way, the CHP said.
