Fiery 2-Vehicle Crash in Culver City Kills 1 and Critically Injures Another

 
CULVER CITY, CA (July 7, 2020) – A man who died in a fiery two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Culver City has been identified as Gregory Welch, 63, of Lakewood.
 
The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, near Howard Hughes Parkway.
 
CHP officials did not provide details of how the crash occurred, but one car caught fire and the second vehicle had rolled over.
 
Welch, who was in the overturned car, died at the scene.
 
Another man in the burning vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The identity of that patient was not immediately available.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
 
An investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause and liability.
