Driver Dead after Wrong-Way Crash on 605 Freeway [Baldwin Park, CA]

Driver Killed, Another Injured in Wrong-Way Accident on 605 Freeway

 
BALDWIN PARK, CA (July 7, 2020) — A 19-year-old female driver was killed in a wrong-way crash on 605 Freeway in Irwindale on Saturday, July 4.
 
At around 10:48 p.m., a woman drove her 2003 silver Nissan sedan northbound in the southbound lanes. Then the crash took place just north of Ramona Boulevard, wedging the Nissan underneath the FedEx big rig.
 
The driver of the 2014 Freightliner, a 42-year-old man, had complaints of pain and sought his own aid. The 19-year-old Nissan driver, a resident of Baldwin Park, died at the scene, the California Highway Patrol said.
 
The CHP issued a Sigalert at about 11:08 p.m. for all southbound lanes and redirected traffic at Lower Azusa Road. The lanes reopened around 3:55 a.m.
