Darrell Cheek and Sue Cheek Killed in Head-On Crash in Visalia
VISALIA, CA (July 6, 2020) – Authorities identified 77-year-old Darrell Cheek and 72-year-old Sue Cheek as the victims killed in a head-on crash in Visalia, Monday evening.
According to the Visalia Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:00 PM. For reasons still under investigation, a Dodge truck left westbound Highway 198 and slammed through a chain-link fence. After that, the truck entered eastbound Mineral King Avenue.
A short time later, the truck collided head-on into an eastbound Nissan Rogue.
Emergency crews pronounced the couple inside the Nissan dead at the scene. Darrell Cheek was a Vietnam Veteran and former auto parts salesman, while Sue Cheek was a longtime office manager before retiring.

The driver of the truck, later identified as 30-year-old Devin Terry, sustained major injuries.
Visalia police continue to investigate the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
