Jamela Kinard Killed in Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway [HERCULES, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway at Willow Avenue

 
HERCULES, CA (July 5, 2020) – A woman who died in a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning in Hercules has been identified as Jamela Kinard, 40, of Oakland.
 
The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. on westbound 80 Freeway, just east of Willow Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Kinard was driving a Buick sedan when the car became disabled in the far left westbound lane of the freeway. She exited the vehicle and stood in the roadway when a Dodge Ram struck her.
 
Kinard suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics took him to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment.
 
Investigators are still working to determine whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. They encouraged witnesses to contact the Contra Costa-area CHP office at (925) 646-4980.
