Alma Olivarez Killed in Car Crash on Highway 4 [MARTINEZ, CA]

Car Crashes into Tree on Highway 4 at Cummings Skyway Killing its Passenger

 
MARTINEZ, CA (July 6, 2020) – A passenger died following a car accident Monday evening in Martinez, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4, just east of Cummings Skyway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Jeep Laredo was traveling east when for unknown reasons, it went off the roadway and slammed into a tree.
 
Emergency crews arrived and found two people inside the car. The female passenger suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported the driver, a 28-year-old man, to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
The coroner’s office later identified the passenger as Alma Olivarez, 18, of Pittsburg.
 
It is still unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the incident.
