Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash at Seaview Drive and Shore Road

 
BAY POINT, CA (July 4, 2020) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash Saturday evening in Bay Point, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Seaview Drive and Shore Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, an Audi sedan struck a male pedestrian, throwing him into a nearby parked vehicle.
 
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
Police said the victim was in the roadway, using fireworks, when the Audi driver, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck him. His identity was withheld pending notification of his family.
 
The driver of the Audi fled toward the city of Pittsburg. Police later located the suspect based on witness tips and arrested him on multiple felony charges.
 
Authorities did not release that driver’s identity on Sunday, but said they were booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
