One Killed in Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway at Willow Avenue [HERCULES, CA]

Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway at Willow Avenue Turns Deadly

 
HERCULES CA (July 5, 2020) – One person was killed in a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning in Hercules, police said.
 
The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. on westbound 80 Freeway, just east of Willow Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram collided into a Buick sedan that was stopped on the highway. The Dodge also struck the Buick owner, who was standing next to the car.
 
As a result, the Buick owner suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Dodge sustained moderate injuries. Paramedics transported them to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek for treatment.
 
Police said it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
 
The Contra Costa CHP is still investigating the incident. They asked anyone with further information to call their Martinez office at 925-646-4980.
