Motorcyclist Killed, Driver Arrested in Three-Vehicle Collision on 5 Freeway [Del Mar, CA]

At Least One Dead after Three-Vehicle Collision on 5 Freeway near Via De La Valle

 
DEL MAR, CA (July 4, 2020) – A motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle collision on 5 Freeway, Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:07 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a white sedan, a motorcycle, and a red pickup truck collided near Via De La Valle.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. It is unknown whether or not other people involved in the crash sustained injuries.
 
As per reports, officers arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
