Daun Sanders Killed in Pedestrian Crash on 15 Freeway [ONTARIO, CA]

Shingletown Murder Suspect Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 15 Freeway near Jurupa Street

 
ONTARIO, CA (July 1, 2020) – A murder suspect was killed in a pedestrian crash early Wednesday morning in Ontario.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:35 a.m. on southbound 15 Freeway near the Jurupa Street off-ramp.
 
CHP officials responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, the pedestrian, 35-year-old Daun Eric Sanders, of Shingletown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Deputies said Sanders was driving the wrong way when he sideswiped a semi-truck. He then turned the vehicle he was driving around and crashed into a median.
 
After the crash, Sanders got out of the vehicle carrying a puppy. Another vehicle then struck him, killing him and the puppy.
 
Shasta County deputies said Sanders was wanted in connection to the murder of two people at his Shingletown home on Gail Lane before evading authorities in a dark-colored pickup truck.
 
Detectives also learned Sanders’ father, 80-year-old William “Bill” Sanders, from Shingletown, has not contacted his family since Thursday.
