Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Elm Avenue near North Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (July 1, 2020) – A man died following a hit-and-run crash Wednesday afternoon in southwest Fresno, according to the CHP.
 
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on Elm Avenue near North Avenue.
 
CHP officials said a male pedestrian in his 60s was walking on the shoulder heading south on Elm Avenue when a vehicle struck him. The driver sped away after the crash, but the vehicle lost a side mirror due to the impact.
 
Arriving units pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
Authorities are now searching for a 2010 to 2013 silver Toyota Corolla and the hit-and-run driver. They said the vehicle may have damage to the right front bumper.
 
It is still unknown if the use of alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
