Officer Hurt after San Pedro Hit-and-Run Crash on South Gaffey Street

 
SAN PEDRO, CA (July 1, 2020) – A police officer was injured in a hit-and-run crash on South Gaffey Street in San Pedro on Friday, June 26.
 
According to LAPD, at around 8:20 p.m., they received a call about an injured officer at 3500 block of South Gaffey Street. More than a dozen police and fire officials responded to the location.
 
Officer Tony Im said that the driver of a black Chevrolet Camaro hit the officer and fled. It’s unclear what caused the incident. However, officials said they took a report for an assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
 
Paramedics rushed the officer, whose identity was not available, to the hospital with minor injuries. The officer remained in stable condition Saturday morning, said LAPD.
 
Officials impounded the Camaro discovered near the scene.
 
Authorities continued looking for the driver Saturday morning.
 
Officials did not provide other information about the incident.
