Domingo Cruz Flees Scene after Car Crash on Rancho California Road
TEMECULA, CA (June 23, 2020) – Authorities identified 40-year-old Domingo Cruz of Temecula as the hit-and-run driver involved in a major injury crash on Rancho California Road, Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at about 2:51 PM. A green Toyota pickup truck, driven by Cruz, allegedly ran a red light. Then, the vehicle crashed into a black Jeep Patriot that was making a left turn from 15 Freeway onto Rancho California Road.
Emergency crews transported the Jeep driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries. However, Cruz did not stop to render aid and fled the scene on foot.
Deputies later found the pickup truck abandoned at the intersection.
The sheriff’s Southwest Station’s Traffic Team is actively looking for Cruz. Authorities described the suspect as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with additional information can call Deputy Frank Opice at the Southwest Sheriff Station at (951) 696-3000.
