7 Injured in Car Accident on Avalon Boulevard [Los Angeles, CA]

Seven Hurt in Los Angeles Two-Car Crash on Avalon Boulevard

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 1, 2020) – Seven people were injured, including five children, after a two-car crash just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30.
 
According to the L.A. Fire Department, the crash took place on Avalon Boulevard, near the intersection with 77th Street.
 
Footage from the crash site shows a compact Mazda hatchback with its front end slammed perpendicularly into the rear of a Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
 
LAFD Assistant Chief Jaime Moore said responders had to extricate the people trapped inside. He said it was a challenge because the SUV rolled on its side and crushed up against a parked box truck.
 
Moore said that the Chevy’s occupants included an adult driver and five children of different age.
 
Two of the children were in critical condition at the scene. The other three children didn’t appear to suffer major injuries.
 
The assistant chief stated that he expects the children to survive.
 
The two adults also received treatment, including the woman behind the wheel of the Mazda.
 
Investigators believe drugs or alcohol did not contribute to the crash, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.
