Theodore Rich Killed in Head-On Crash on Baron Drive [EASTVALE, CA]

Head-On Crash at Baron Drive and Archibald Avenue Kills 1 Driver

 
EASTVALE, CA (June 24, 2020) – A motorist who died in a head-on crash Wednesday morning has been identified as Theodore Rich, 88, of Hawthorne.
 
The crash happened around 8:34 a.m. on June 24, at the intersection of Baron Drive and Archibald Avenue.
 
CHP officials said Rich was driving eastbound on Baron Road and tried turning left on River Road, despite signs telling drivers could only turn right. While making the left turn, a second vehicle traveling south on River Road struck his car head-on.
 
Firefighters had to extricate Rich from his vehicle. Paramedics then transported him to Corona Regional Medical Center with major injuries. He died less than an hour later.
 
The other driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
 
Deputies temporary closed Archibald Avenue in both directions while they processed the scene.
 
At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in crash, CHP officials said. They asked anyone with additional information to call Deputy Van Gorder at the Jurupa Valley Station at (951) 955-2600.
