Randall King Fatally Injured after Chain-Reaction Crash on 5 Freeway

 
LAGUNA HILLS, CA (June 30, 2020) — An Ojai man identified as 71-year-old Randall King died in a chain-reaction crash around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 20.
 
King drove a Subaru behind two other cars southbound on the freeway. A BMW that was two vehicles ahead of the Subaru suddenly stopped. The drivers of a Honda and the Subaru driven by King, both managed to slow to a stop behind the BMW. Unfortunately, a driver in a Ford slammed into the back of the Subaru at high speed.
 
Emergency responders rushed King by ambulance to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. He died approximately 40 minutes later, the coroner’s office stated.
 
It was not yet known if any other drivers or passengers suffered injuries during the collision.
 
California Highway Patrol’s Orange County office is still investigating the incident.
