Bay Area Rapper Dies in Contra Costa Rollover Crash

 
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (June 29, 2020) – A man died following a rollover crash early Monday morning in Contra Costa County.
 
The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on Byron Highway, just north of Holey Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2019 Dodge Charger was speeding southbound on Byron Highway and was unable to navigate a turn in the roadway. It then struck the dirt shoulder and overturned several times.
 
Deputies arrived and found the driver lying on the dirt shoulder outside of the Dodge. He apparently was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the sunroof.
 
Paramedics rushed the man to a hospital in Antioch, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The coroner’s office identified the man as 27-year-old Curtis Denton Jr. of Antioch.
 
Authorities have not yet determined if impairment was a factor, and are still investigating. They asked anyone with information to call the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
 
Fans and celebrities took to Twitter to express their remorse of Denton’s death. Many described him as a Bay Area legend, who pioneered the rap scene from the Bay Area to Los Angeles.
