Man Fatally Hit by Vehicle on Garey Avenue in Pomona
POMONA, CA (June 27, 2020) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Garey Avenue, Saturday evening.
According to the Pomona Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:45 PM. While running from the east curb across Garey Avenue by Grand Avenue, a vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Emergency crews found the victim lying in the road with head injuries and trauma to the lower half of his body. As per reports, the responders found a portion of his leg detached as a result of the incident. Medics rushed the victim to Pomona Valley Community Hospital, where he later died.
Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, described as a man in his 30s, pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. In addition, officers ruled out impairment as a factor in the fatal collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
