Heather Martinez Killed DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 180 [MINKLER, CA]

Kenia Rodriguez Arrested for DUI Hit-and-Run after Fatal Crash on Highway 180

 
MINKLER, CA (June 28, 2020) – A woman was killed following a DUI hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in Minkler, CHP official said.
 
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Highway 180, just east of Piedra Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2000 Toyota was traveling east on the highway when it struck a pedestrian. The driver then sped away from the scene.
 
The pedestrian had been in a vehicle and stopped on the right shoulder for an unknown reason. She then exited the vehicle and walked within the shoulder, when the Toyota hit her.
 
Arriving units attempted saving the pedestrian but she died at the scene. The coroner’s office later identified her as Heather Martinez, 42, of Fresno.
 
A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy who was near the area monitored the radio traffic and stopped the Toyota a short distance away.
 
They arrested the driver, identified as 32-year-old Kenia Rodriguez of Firebaugh, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Rodriguez was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run.
 
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
