2 Killed, 2 Injured in DUI Crash on South Fruitland [PUYALLUP, WA]

DUI Suspected in Deadly Puyallup Crash on South Fruitland

 
PUYALLUP, WA (June 29, 2020) – A suspected DUI crash on South Fruitland in Puyallup killed two people and injured two others early Friday morning.
 
According to the Puyallup police, a 16-year-old girl was driving a car on 31st Avenue Southwest with 3 passengers on board. She was reportedly going at a very high rate of speed when the vehicle went airborne at South Fruitland.
 
The car landed on the roadway, but the driver lost control and struck a ditch. The vehicle subsequently overturned.
 
As the vehicle rolls over, two boys who were in the back seat were ejected. Their names were not immediately available. The officers said one of them was 16 years old, and the other was 17 years old.
 
First responders administered CPR on both boys, but the 16-year-old boy died at the scene. The 17-year-old boy was transported to a Tacoma hospital but also succumbed to his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old girl driving the car and a 15-year-old male passenger received treatment for their injuries at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
 
The police believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
