Nicole Spadaro Critically Injured in Fatal DUI Crash on Santa Lucia Canyon Road [LOMPOC, CA]

Michael Martinez Killed, Michael Culligan Arrested in Lompoc DUI Crash on Santa Lucia Road

 
LOMPOC, CA (June 16, 2020) – A woman who was critically injured following a deadly DUI crash Monday two weeks ago has been identified as Nicole Spadaro, 37, of Santa Maria.
 
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Santa Lucia Canyon Road near the Lompoc Federal Correctional Complex.
 
CHP officials said Michael Culligan, 29, of Lompoc, was driving a stolen Jeep on Santa Lucia Canyon Road. He was traveling southbound when the Jeep crossed over into the path of a northbound Lexus, driven by 35-year-old Michael Daniel Martinez of Santa Maria.
 
Martinez died at the scene. Spadaro who was a passenger in the Lexus was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital.
 
Meanwhile, Culligan fled the scene on foot. Police later found him and arrested him on DUI among other charges.
 
Investigators determined that the Jeep’s license plates belonged to a different car.
 
A federal judge has ordered Culligan to remain in custody, and set July 7 for an arraignment hearing, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
